Ming's Monsters Pinch Tumbler Celadon
Dubbing his creations as "monsters," ceramicist Ming Yuen-Schat balances modern whimsy with refined technique. Each of his works is hand-thrown from a special mixture of clay and quartz before being fired in an Anagama kiln, a wood-burning kiln used in Japan since the 5th century. This traditional method embraces serendipity to yield pieces that embody the Japanese principle of "wabi-sabi", or the beauty of imperfection.
