How to Choose the Right Sectional Size

The right sectional size ensures your seating arrangement fits seamlessly into your space:

• Small Sectionals (75"-90"): Compact designs for apartments or smaller rooms.

• Medium Sectionals (90"-120"): Versatile sizes for typical living rooms or family areas.

• Large Sectionals (120"+): Perfect for open floor plans or large spaces, offering high end seating for larger gatherings.

When measuring, consider leaving enough clearance for walkways and surrounding furniture.

Understanding Sectional Sofa Configurations

Unlike standard sized sofas, when choosing a sectional it’s all about finding a configuration and shape that enhances the space. Popular styles include:

• L-Shaped Sectionals: Ideal for corner placements, offering ample seating while optimizing space.

• U-Shaped Sectionals: Perfect for larger rooms or creating a communal seating area.

• Chaise Sectionals: Featuring an extended seat for added comfort and lounging.

• Modular Sectionals: Designed for flexibility, with individual pieces that can be rearranged to suit your layout.

• Customizable Sectional Options: Tailor your sectional’s material, color, and configuration to perfectly complement your home.

Some spaces are also suited to a combination of a section and standard sofa. Our collection includes plenty of matching sofas & sectionals to help you there. Alternatively, pairing with a lounge chair or ottoman can help give a lovely accent your space.

Materials & Finishes

Select materials and finishes that match your lifestyle and design choices:

• Fabric Upholstery: Offers a wide range of colors and textures for premium, customizable designs.

• Genuine Leather: Durable, easy to clean, and adds timeless sophistication.

• Premium Performance Fabrics: Stain-resistant and pet-friendly for active households.

• Velvet or Bouclé: Luxurious and textured options for a modern, tactile appeal.

Innovative Sectional Placement Ideas

While sectionals traditionally anchor living rooms, they can enhance other spaces in your home:

• Media Rooms: Use a U-shaped sectional for ultimate comfort during movie nights.

• Lofts or Open-Plan Layouts: Define living spaces with a modular sectional, creating a clear seating area.

• Family Rooms: Choose an L-shaped or chaise sectional to provide seating for everyone while maximizing comfort.

Caring for Your Sectional Sofa

To maintain the beauty and longevity of your sectional:

• Vacuum regularly to remove dust and debris.

• Spot-clean fabric upholstery with mild detergents.

• Condition leather periodically to prevent cracking and preserve its luster.

• Protect high-wear areas with throws or slipcovers.

Pairing Sectionals with Rugs

At abc carpet + home, we’re industry leaders in stunning one of a kind rugs. You can easily compliment your new sectional with versatile Area Rugs or for added texture and warmth, consider our luxurious Wool Rugs, perfect for tying your living space together with timeless elegance.

Rugs & Sectionals: Size and Placement Tips

• Anchor Your Sectional: Choose a rug large enough to extend under the front legs of your sectional for a unified look.

• Define the Area: Ensure the rug is proportional to your sectional, extending at least 6-8 inches beyond its edges for balance.

• Open Layouts: You can use a rug to frame your sectional and coffee table, creating a well-defined seating zone.

Pro Tip: Consider tying everything together with thoughtfully chosen decorative pillows and throws.
